The fifth country Indonesia pentavalent vaccine manufacturers
Indonesia became the fifth country in the world as a manufacturer of pentavalent vaccine, developed by PT Bio Farma (Persero) to meet the needs of domestic and foreign markets.
"Pentavalent vaccine is ready for launch in late 2012, our latest breakthrough vaccine production is put Indonesia as the fifth country to produce pentavalent vaccine," said Head of Public Relations of PT Bio Farma (Persero), Nurlaela, in Bandung, Friday.
Pentavalent vaccine is a combination vaccine of the five variants of the vaccine diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B and hermophilusinfluenza type B (HIB).
Other countries are already producing the vaccine, including the United States, Belgium, and France.
According to Lala, pentavalent vaccine will be marketed overseas as it has got the certification from WHO. Through the world's health agencies as well the vaccine will be marketed to countries in the world and of the marketing between businesses.
Latest addition of the Bio Farma vaccine also will meet domestic needs, and is now undergoing the process at the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) to further disseminated and used.
"This vaccine will support the program imuninasi in Indonesia, but also more effective fuller," he said.
Pentavalent production rate itself depends on the needs. In Indonesia, this vaccine targets infants consumed 4.8 million. In addition to the new vaccine, Bio Farma marketing target this year would reach Rp1, 4 billion or growth of 10-15 percent compared to 2011.
Of revenue, the company is the only vaccine in Indonesia is targeting an increase in net profit of Rp408 billion in 2012. In 2011, the company took advantage of the vaccine was Rp303 billion.
